As a child growing up, Jemison learned to make connections to science by studying nature. He was born on October 17, 1956 (age 55). She is a American. She said it was easier to apply to be a shuttle astronaut, "rather than waiting around in a cornfield, waiting for ET to pick me up or something." Then, when a white guy would ask the same question, the professor would say, "That's a very astute observation.'" Then, when a white guy would ask the same question, the professor would say, "That's a very astute observation.'"

Jemison was three years old, to take advantage of better educational opportunities there. Jemison says that as a young girl growing up in Chicago she always assumed she would get into space. "I thought, by now, we'd be going into space like you were going to work.Once when a splinter infected her thumb as a little girl, Jemison's mother turned it into a learning experience. She ended up doing a whole project about pus.

Nat Love Also Deadwood Dick. Love Was Born A Slave On The Plantation Of Robert Love In Davidson County, Tennessee, In June, 1854. Despite slavery era statutes that outlawed black literacy he learned to read and write as a child with the help of his father, Sampson Love. When slavery ended, Sampson attempted to start a family farm to raise tobacco and corn, but he died shortly after the second crop was planted. Nat then took a second job working on a local farm to help make ends meet. After a few years of working odd jobs, he won a horse in a raffle. He sold the horse for one hundred dollars and gave half to his mother, and he used the othhalf to leave town. He went west to Dodge CityKansas, to find work as a Cowboy. In Dodge City, he joined the cowboys from the Duval Ranch which was stationed in Texas. Because of his excellent horse riding skills, the Duval Ranch cowboys gave Nat the nickname "Red River Dick." Once he joined the Duval cowboys he left Dodge City and returned with them to the home ranch in the Texas Panhandle. Nat Love's autobiography tells of many adventures fighting against cattle rustlers and inclement weather. His many years of experience made him an expert marksman and cowboy. He entered a rodeo in Deadwood, South Dakota on the 4th of July in 1876.

Eventually Nat Love’s family was freed from bondage because of Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. As he got off on his own, some of his associates were Billy the Kid, Bat Masterson, the James Brothers. He also was adopted by more than one Indian tribe. As a young man he wanted to get into the west and start living on his own, and he knew he could find work as a cowhand. He started working in Dodge City, Kansas, but it was then when he started to become a really good cowboy- he could catch cattle and rope them very easily. Then, he was offered more money at the Pete Gallinger company, so he started to work there. When he was 22, Love entered in a Roping contest on the 4th of July in Deadwood, South Dakota. He impressed the crowd so much that he received the nickname, “Deadwood Dick.” He won many contests, and published two autobiographies- The Life and Adventures of Nat Love and Better Known in the Cattle Country. Nat rode through hailstorms so hard that "only men could withstand them." Nat fought off attacks by Indians a lot, like many other cowboys. The first time he met a mean group of Indians he said he was too scared to run. Nat found love at first sight by a Spanish woman when he passed by a house in Old Mexico. They got married, but she died the spring after because of sickness. Later, he married another woman in Denver, CO. Nat eventually gave up on being a cowboy for the railroad industry instead. In 1980, he got a job in the Pullman service on the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad.

The Apostrophe
An apostrophe is a signal telling the reader that a word is either a possessive or a contraction.
1)   To Form Contractions

As you know, a contraction is simply two words collapsed into one. You use contractions most often in informal or personal types of writing but usually not in more formal types. When you speak, you use contractions every day. Here are some common contractions:

       Cannot à can’t
       Will not à won’t
       Do not à don’t
       we are àwe’re
       It is à it’s
       You are à you’re
The apostrophe in the contractions above tells the reader that you have omitted a letter or two from the word---the letter o in three of the cases above. Undoubtedly, you have already mastered contractions, so we won’t go into detail. However, we will mention one common mistake. Remember that the apostrophe between the two words, such as in these cases: should’nt, don’t, etc.

1)   To Form Possessives

The apostrophe is also used to mark the possessive. The possessive tells the reader that someone or something owns or possesses the thing that comes after the possessive. Here are five examples:
Ronni’s word processor
The banker’s log book
The bank’s holdings
The nation’s holdings
The year’s end

The possessive noun in each of the examples above (Ronni’s, banker’s, bank’s, nation’s, year’s) indicates to the reader that something is owned by something or something else. In most cases to make the possessive you simply add an’s to the end of the noun. This is quite easy. The problem arises when a noun is both plural and possessive. Certainly, there one banker can own the log book. In such cases, you simply place the apostrophe after rather than before the s:
 Ronnis’
bankers’
banks’
nations’

Some writers become confused when they must make a possessive of singular nouns that already end in s. As usual, you make the possessive by adding‘s to the word; however, some writers and editors argue that the two s’ are redundant and that therefore you can eliminate the second s, ending up with the s’. That is, they argue that there is really no need to include an s after the apostrophe, since the apostrophe already tells readers that the word is possessive. Others argue that you should drop the final s only on words of several syllables but retain it on short words. Since there is no agreement on this difficult problem, you must make you own choice. However, regardless of which option you chose, do remember to be consistent. Here are three nouns which already end in s and their corresponding possessive forms:

James James’s James
Jones Jones’s Jones’
Class class’ class’
Finally, the apostrophe is used in one other way. Although the apostrophe is never used to make a word plural, it is used to make letters and numerals plural:

Although I received C’s and D’s in many of my college classes, I always received A’s in my business classes.

My sister received straight A’s throughout her college career.

My score sheet showed that I had six 5’s and three 4’s

The Colon
You might be surprised to learn that the colon is one of the most helpful and easiest to use of all the punctuation marks. You don’t need to remember six or seven rules to understand how a colon works. In prose, a colon really does only one thing: it introduces. It can introduce just about anything: a word, a phrase, a sentence, a quotation, or a list. You’ll notice that we’ve used colons in the second case. This is how simple the colon is. Let’s look at some other examples:
Joe has only one thing on his mind: profit.
Joe has only one thing on his mind: his stock portfolio.
Joe has only one thing on his mind: he wants to get rich.
Joe has three things on his mind: stocks, bonds, and certificates of deposit.
We have used a colon in these four sentences to introduce various kinds of things: a word, a phrase, a sentence, and a list. You can use a colon in your prose in any place where you must directly introduce something. A colon gives special emphasis to whatever you’re introducing because readers must first come to a stop, and so they pay more attention to it. For example, let’s say you are writing a letter describing a product, and you want to emphasize above all that this product, the Jacobsen lawn mower, is reliable. You could very well write:
The Jacobsen lawn mower beats its competitors especially in the key area of reliability.
While this sentence gets the point across, it doesn’t place much emphasis on reliability. A sentence using a colon is much more emphatic:
The Jacobsen lawn mower beats its competitors especially in one key area: reliability.
Notice that the second example places clear emphasis on the point that the writer is trying to communicate to his or her reader: that the Jacobsen lawn mower is above all reliable. The writer of this sentence has used the colon effectively.
Perhaps the most common way to use a colon is to introduce a list of items, as in this sentence:
